glitch in pc game

Hello, calling on tech advice . Downloaded a pc game , Fate ( generic diablo ) , from source on youtube . Isn't governed by Wild Tangent , The catch is , is a old game . Two nights ago , when I brought up the game, and there was no sound . Time program compatibility , and it resolved problem at first . But when I shut down game, and brought it up later , sound was down again . Program compatibility helped again , but as before , when I shut down game and turned it back on , no sound .Im good with mt pc, but no tech experience . Any techs that can help me get rid of this glitch , would be great
