Getting 4.1 to work in windows using Cambridge soundworks four point surround speakers.

I am struggling to get my Cambridge soundworks four point surround speakers to work with Windows 11.I can get all 4 surround speakers working in the test by running mmsys.cpl, clicking on speakers / configure.However, when playing youtube test videos, the rear surround speakers do not play, the front speakers play in a stereo config.I have the latest realtek driver installed.Are these speakers just too old for modern windows? (they must be 25 years old!).
