Gateway M 6848 laptop upgrade from Windows 7 Pro 64 bit to Windows 10Pro 64 bit. Problems with touch pad and mouse.

Gateway M 6848 model upgraded from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10. Worked Fine. Not used for a couple of years. Did a clean reinstall of Windows 10 last week. Now the touchpad and mouse not working. Looking to install the device drivers but Windows is not able to install a driver for intel(R) ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller 2835. Driver was found but written for an older version of Windows. Contacted Gateway but they do not offer support for this Laptop. Is there any other source of this driver which is legitimate? Should I try to reinstall windows 7 Pro from DVD? Will that help with
