Gaming Laptop Screen Black When Connected To External Monitor.... Any Fixes For This Issue?

Hello Microsoft & Others,I currently use a ASUS Rog Strix G15 and have it connected to an external monitor which is an Acer monitor. Every time I turn on my laptop the screen is black while the monitor is showing the gaming laptop screen and I am confused on why this is happening. Both devices are connected with an HDMI cable and when the cable is taken out the gaming laptop screen is still black.
