Forced into no updates, or a 24H2 update that doesn't work

Yesterday I decided to try the 24H2 update on my main home PC, since I'd seen it on a few work PCs and it seemed fine. Well, it wasn't fine. About 50% of the time on boot I'd just get an unresponsive black screen. Oh well, I reverted and went on with my day. Couple of side effects, for example the Microsoft store broke, but I was able to fix it.WELL...Since it had previously been an update I had to manually select, it didn't occur to me to be wary of it AUTOMATICALLY installing AGAIN tonight.
