Files not open once saved in 365

[Windows 11]

I recently updated my pc to a laptop and now using 365. I saved all previous office documents on (I think Office 2017) which open OK and allow editing on 365, however once I save the file in 365 it wont open again and say contains unreadable content or file extension not valid
