File Folder problems with latest update on Windows 11

With the Windows 11 latest update, why does my PC show no documents or downloads residing on the PC. They only show up in One Drive folder. I do not remember giving permission for this and I want those documents on my PC even if I have copies on One Drive! Is there something I'm missing here? I want to know where my files are physically located at all times, and I'm not comfortable with that being in the Cloud only.
