File explorer issues

Running current version Windows 11 on a Toshiba Satelitte Pro So when I open file explorer and I see the file/folder hierarchy, if I then click on any folder at all I get a small dialogue box up with the path name in the title, the pathname in the box next to the red circle white X and the words "application not found". I am not clicking on an application I just expect clicking on a folder to show the contents of that folder. I have followed all the sensible steps in described here IT Consultancy Services still does not work, I am at a loss and
