Hi,
Each time I create a new System Restore point, after some seconds I can close the dialog notfication of the new restore point created, but in this moment System Protection Panel keeps locked during 30-50 seconds because explorer.exe is strangely busy with 50% cpu use. During this 30-50 seconds If I go to My PC, the C: device looks like this:
37GB free of 1,81TB
150GB free of 1,81TB
586GB free of 1,81TB
...
1,60GB free of 1,81TB
54GB free of 1,81TB
139GB free of 1,81TB
...
After this 30-50 seconds trying to calculate the free device space, finally it shows correctly:
1,67GB free of 1.81TB
This is the only problem I have, without any errors, but with big delays. This also happen when Windows Update or some program creates a System Restore point.
My Specs:
1,81TB MBR Windows 7 x64 SP1 partition with all updates newly installed, including KB982018.
Motherboard: P5G41-M LX with Legacy BIOS / ICH7 chipset (SATA2 mode without AHCI Support).
HD: ST2000DM006 with advanced format 512 bytes/sector emulation (512e).
The other day I have tried also this device as secondary with MBR and another day with GPT partition and when I activate System Restore and I create a System Restore point I have always the same problem. It happens even when I reduce the partition size disk to 400GB.
This only happens with the advanced format 4Kb disks with 512e feature I have. If I use another 512 bytes/sector older native disk, System Restore Works properly and faster without any issues.
Do you know what is the problem with this system tool and this HW specs? Is there any patch, regedit fix or config?
Thanks.
