Explorer crashes when I click a file - tried all the fixes

This is in Windows 11. It started with files on a USB stick. Explorer would restart on right-clicking a fil. I copied the files to my C: drive and the same thing happened there with those specific files.I found and tried lots of solutions: including restarting Explorer, clearing its history, using DISM and SFC.I booted into safe mode - the problem was still there.I downloaded the Windows installation ISO file - but couldn't mount it because the right-click crashed ExplorerI installed an alternative to Explorer, which did not have the problem, and was able to run the installation from that.
