Everytime I open Internet explorer an error message comes up?

Since yesterday every time I tried to open Internet Explorer it would say
there was an error and ask me if I wanted to send an error report. It's
getting frustrating I can't surf the web. I'm still connected to the internet
..AIM works fine, I just can't surf the web.

My friend sent me Firefox and it's been tempermental...everytime I search on
Google I can't click on a legitimate website. It'll say it's wikipedia or
amazon or dillards, etc. but it'll bring me to one of those annoying spam
shopping websites.

My virus scan/ad-aware scan didn't show anything. I know it's not 100% but I
also tried doing both scans in safe mode.

Any explinations? What should I do?

Try scanning again more thoroughly and don't neglect the prep work:

When all else fails, get guided help. Choose one of the specialty forums
listed at the first link. Register and read its posting FAQ. PLEASE DO NOT
