here is how i fixed my pc:
1. record time and run a windows update try.
2. start--run-- windowsupdate.log--enter
3. skip to end of log and find start of time you recorded. see if it says
update not required[this refers to the files needed to run windows update].
should show all files and that version is cuurent.......if not do kb916259
4. if files are ok and about 2 pages down the log see FATAL FAILED TO GET
AGENT INTERFACE POINTERS FOR 80004002 then go back to the list of files
stated as ok and record the .dll files [7 of them]
5. start--run--cmd--enter. then for each of the 7 files regsvr32 file1.dll
enter. wait for msg and then do next etc.
6. try windows update.
7. if still a problem there is a update filter fix kb922582
lots of luck.
