Error code 0x80073712. What do I do?

I received error code 0x80073712 when attempting to install an update onto my PC. The exact message I receive is "2023-09 cumulative update preview .netFramework 3.5, 4.8, and 4.8.1 for Windows 11 for x64 (KB5031042)" prior to the error code. I have used the troubleshoot to no avail, restarting the computer didn't help. I am unsure what to do at this point.
