Error 0xc000012f how do I fix this?

Mircosoft word, excel, etc etc have suddenly stopped opening on my laptop with the above error code showing. Another thread says this means I lack the Microsoft Visual C+ + Redistributable and need to download them. I have done this but the same error keeps happening and I am at a loss as to what to do?
