Hello,
I was having the above mentioned error message for the longest time, tried
all fixes suggested by members of this newsgroup and, in the end, found out
that the problem had to do with my ethernet D-Link 260 modem (is no longer
supported by the company so I can't get any help from them).
I isolated the problem after connecting a spare USB modem to my DSL line -
the D-Link 180U. So, definitely the ethernet modem is timing out during
Windows Update due to the way it is configured. The problem is that I need
the D-Link 260 modem because I have VoIP and it is ethernet based.
Could someone help me fix/configure the D-Link 260 modem so I can get my
Windows Updates?
Thanks.
