Endless Reboot after enabling in Registry AHCI

I needed to enable ACHI in my HP Pavilion A6400f. I followed the instructions found at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/922976. Instead of working, the unit would get as far as the Windows boot screen and then reboot. The only way to stop the endless rebooting was to disable AHCI in BIOS.
