embedded videos not playing in windows 11

I finally accepted the prompts on my Surface Pro 6 to upgrade to Windows 11 on Fri 20 Dec 2024. But now it wont play embedded videos in Chrome or IE - in particular to videos for a course in Thrivecart. Youtube is fine. Initially you see the video still photo load up fine. I do get an initial error message of 'Unable to fetch comments' but I dont know why when there are no comments enabled by the course provider, hence no comments to fetch anyway.But when you press Play, it goes completely black with white dots in the middle going around in a circle forever.
