Email with Embedded HTML Received As Plain Text

Using MAIL for Windows to access my AOL email. This has worked perfectly for years. Recently any email with embedded HTML code comes through as plain text; showing the HTML code but not interpreting it. When I go into AOL directly the email appears correctly with the proper interpretaion. The setting in OUTLOOK is for HTML. Tried resetting and reinstalling MAIL but that did not work. Also tried reinstalling OUTLOOK.
