DS4 controller not getting registered as game controller.

So I recently got a new pc with windows 11 home.I am able to connect my ds4 controller via Bluetooth and it shows in the list of 'input' devices.(when I try to connect with usb cable it shows up only in the list of audio devices)However no game, nor steam, nor joy.cpl are registering any game controller.I updated windows drivers & made sure to check for the latest drivers on the ds4 controller.I even tried ds4 windows: no game controller detected& inputmapper: does find the controller but can't map it out or anything.Help greatly appreciated!
