Does anyone have a working answer on "How to fix Synaptics Touch pad dialog in settings has no effect on touch pad behavior"?

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, running Windows 10 Pro (22H2) and making changes in the Touch pad screen settings makes no difference in the behavior of the touch pad . Can't even turn the touch pad off or change the senitivity! I have tried every suggestion posted here without success!Please, how to turn off "Tap to Click"!!!!!!!!!!I have tried different versions of the Synaptics driver without success.
