Apr 23, 2010 #1 J Jack B Guest Does the close proximity of a CRT monitor affect an external hard drive? Jack
Apr 24, 2010 #2 U Unknown Guest It may or may not. Depends on the quality of the CRT monitor AND the quality of the external hard drive. I.E. Proper shielding. If the HDD is in a meatal case no. If it's in a plastic case and the monitor is defective or had shielding removed maybe over a very long period of time. I wouldn't worry about it but on the other hand power of the magnetism at 2" is 1/4 what it is at one inch. So if you have a little extra room.......................
