Do I need Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator?

Hello all,I have been noticing that Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (msdtc.exe) has occasionally started launching itself in the background on one of my computers. This laptop is used for the basic user/student roles (surfing the Web, email, writing essays/assignments, etc.). I don't see the need for msdtc.exe because I don't use this computer for databases. (Well, the only related thing is that I have rarely used, via a VMWare virtual machine, Microsoft Access for two assignments.)
