Did I get the right replacement for my Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset USB Link?

My Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset stopped working properly (bad sound input and output) after the USB Link sustained some damage.I purchased a USB Link replacement, but it has since been impossible to pair the headset to the USB link. The headset might get paired directly to the computer via Bluetooth, but not through the USB link which would give a superior sound quality.The new USB Link is not recognised on Microsoft Accessory Centre, although it is recognised on the computer under Bluetooth & Devices.
