Hi all.

I cannot seem to figure this one out.

Every now and then on this or that webpage my browser will default to

"mobile web". As in phone-first non-html web browsing cell phone devices.

A recent example would be http://www.drpepper.com is what I type in. What

shows up is http://www.drpepper.com/mobile/

I try deleting the /mobile/ and pressing enter, but no go. It defaults back

to /mobile/.

This also happens on Yahoo and random sites here and there.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Have you examined your User Agent String as a possible culprit?

Visit:

http://www.enhanceie.com/ua.aspx

Post back with the results of your UA String.

If you are using IE8 on Windows XP SP3 your User Agent String would look

something like this:

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0)

Good luck,

This is what it shows:

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; WOW64; Trident/4.0;

SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR

3.0.30729; Creative AutoUpdate v1.40.01)

Mobile UA Warning: Your User-Agent string contains the characters 'pda',

which some poorly-coded sites will assume means that you're using a mobile

browser. You may need to remove these characters to visit such sites. More

Information is available about this problem and how to fix it.

I guess that explains it!! I shall do some research.

Thx for the link. If I have any other issues I shall reply.

I think 'Creative AutoUpdate v1.40.01' is your troublemaker.

You're welcome, please see PA Bear's reply in this thread. Others have

reported that removing the reference to "Creative AutoUdater" from the UA

String has resolved similar issues with redirects to mobile sites..

Good luck,
