Hi,

I have a Toshiba Sat Pro M10 laptop with a cursor problem. Every few minutes

the cursor moves to the top of the screen and sometimes the bottom of the

screen. It stays there and I can move it back up/down but it fights against

me and goes back to the original top or bottom position. I am able to move

it left or right only. Then after a couple of minutes it then seems to free

it's self and all is well again.

I have plugged a USB mouse into the machine but this makes no difference. I

have also reformatted and reinstalled the OS (XP Pro) but again exactly the

same issue a few minutes later. I am 100% sure that it isn't a virus or

malware but would like to know if it can be cured as the laptop works great

except for this frustrating problem.

Cheers

Plug in your USB mouse, then go into Control Panel and disable the Toshiba

touchpad and see if that makes a difference. If that cures it, try

uninstalling and reinstalling the Toshiba software for the touchpad; if it

goes back to having problems, it's MTL the touchpad itself. Is it under

warranty, by chance?

The normal cure for this problem is to use a "Synaptics driver"

Forgot to mention that the synaptics driver is commonly used to solve

conflicts between the touchpad and the mouse, the mouse should disable the

touchpad completely, and if it doesn't, the driver should be replaced with

the Synaptics driver that should work with or without a mouse connected and

add more features than the regular driver.

Make sure you download the specific version for your Toshiba Satellite Pro

M10 or for the specific OS if not available for the laptop model
