Critical process died stop code when using 16gbs of ram

I recently built my first pc. It has started giving me the BSOD when i try to use 16gbs of ram, both in single channel and dual channel. The PC is stable with 8gbs of ram. I have updated all drivers, seating and reseating the ram, reseating the CPU, changing the frequency and voltages of the ram in BIOS with no success. I have a MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk Max Wifi motherboard, Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, and Kingston Fury Beast DDR4 ram cards (i have 2 8gb sticks and 1 16gb stick. both configurations of 16gb ram causes the BSOD). What could the issue be and what are other fixes to try?
