I just installed Office Standard on my XP desktop machine and it did its

thing and downloaded all the necessary updates and service packs. I haven't

let it install the updates yet; they're still in the

"C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download" directory.

Since I'm also going to install this edition of Office on my Vista laptop,

can I just copy these Office updates from the desktop machine onto the laptop

rather than having to download them all over again? Or will this mess up

something in the registry or cause some licensing confusion for the Office

installation routines?

If you used the Microsoft Update utility then the objects can not readily be

copied to the other machine. If you downloaded the updates from the MS

Download center then yes, that is what they are designed to have done with

them, download once and then use to update many computers.
