connect wirelessly problem - surface pro 7 to surface pro 6

so I have a surface pro 7 & 6. Have been always able to connect extending the 7 screen to the 6 wirelessly. all of a sudden it stopped working. On the 7, I use to hit windows p and it offered options including "extend" and then as I recall had a button to connect. Now it just lists the options and no further action is offered. So now I hit the windows & k key, it shows the 6 as available and connection - but does not offer what type of connection - ie duplicate, extend etc. So on the 6 I get first a blue screen saying I'm about to project then a 2nd blue screen saying its ready
