Configuring updates stage 3 of 3. 0% complete

I did routine monthly System Update. I noticed that all of the Security related updates failed, the system went into reboot. Everything seemed normal showing the Microsoft Logo, then "Configuring updates stage 3 of 3. 0% complete" appears afterwards it reboots. I tried the F8 options and going back to last successful boot does not help. Seem to be stuck in a loop. I am using a MacBook Pro with Bootcamp which is stable and in use for about 7 years. I think there is a problem with this months update for Vista. Can you help?
