Computer slowed

I’ve been doing a summer unit that is long hours, and my computer has slowed significantly - text, opening apps even trying to restart all laggy. What can I do!Would love explained answers/tips. I don’t want to buy another one anytime soon, but if anything doesn’t work I might have to.
