clicklock on touchpad permanently turned on

Hello,The touchpad on my laptop (Dell Vostro 5590) acts as if the clicklock were turned on - right click does not work, neither does drag to select. However, the box for clicklock function is not ticked in the advanced settings. Reinstalling the driver did not help. I am at my wits' end and I'd appreciate any help.
