Hello,
I just bought a new Samsung smart tv (RU8000) and I am interesting in casting my desktop to the tv. I am using somewhat dated hardware (dell Latitude E5520 and desktop circa 2011 with Radeon HD 6850) to cast and am not having success. For both of the laptop and desktop, when I go to connect to devices (bluetooth, etc) the tv is visible and connected but falls under the "Other Devices" category. It seems as though I cannot get windows (windows 10 on both devices) to recognize the tv as an available wireless screen. I am assuming that neither of these devices is compatible with Miracast.
However, is Miracast different from the "Cast to Device" option I can use when I right click on media on the computer. For both the laptop, I can right click on a video/image file, go to Cast To Device, and then select the tv. The tv then displays what the computers have casted. I can also do this through youtube using chrome.
I am therefore kind of confused about this. Is the "Cast To Device" different from Miracast?
Thank you
