can't upgrade windows 11 home to professional

I tried upgrading my windows 11 home to professional using a windows 10 professional retail key. This has always worked in the past.The upgrade process crashed. When I tried it again now it won't accept my licence key. It says my licence key is invalid. This is NOT a pirated licence key. I paid the full price for this retail key. I searched online and people suggest running the activation troubleshooter but my windows doesn't have that troubleshooter. I logged 2 calls with Microsoft en they didn't call me back.
