can't send emails with attachments

I'm trying to send an email with an attachment and I keep getting the message:

"Message could not be sent. check your network and try again"

Last night I had the same problem. Earlier today it was working fine. Messages I send without attachments work fine.

My system is windows 10.

My email is gmail.

I tried sending it from google chrome and from microsoft edge,both ways the same problem occurs.
