Can't send emails over about 200kb in Gmail or my other email a/c

(Asking on behalf of a friend who's less computer literate than me.)Email attachments of over about 200kb were not sending in Thunderbird with email provider vip.me.uk. I then added a gmail account in Thunderbird - and the same happens. So it seems not to be email provider related?I then tried sending an email attachment (about 600kb) just using Gmail on the web - and that wouldn't go either.Does anyone have any suggestions re the root problem?
