Cant access my personal email address

I tried changing my password when logged into Microsoft. It directed me to login.live.com. Then was asked a LOT Of suspicious questions like my birthday, an e-mail address I had recently sent e-mail to, subject lines of sent e-mails, But i mostly received updates on my personal acct. & its difficult for me to remember the ' email address & subject of recently ' . If it is a scam what can I do.
