CANNOT VERIFY MY CREDENTIALS for Windows 10 log-in pin

Hello, I can’t log into my laptop at all using my pin. It says it “cannot verify my credentials”. When I hit reset or forgot my password, it says “Something went wrong, the pin is not available”. I’m not offered any option other than pin. When I try to reset my pin it says the same thing. I went into safe mode with network - same thing. I thought I could switch to password thru Regedit but apparently hey that’s only for WindowsNT. I have Windows10. What can/should I do? Should I choose something other than safe mode? Is it possibly a bitlocker issue?
