We have a tcp/ip network of peers. Windows 7 and old Windows XP computers. The network has remained unchanged for years. However, now, one computer cannot be seen by another.

The problematic share is a Windows 7 machine trying to map one of the Windows XP machines (no problem with other Windows XP machines). When mapping, this message appears. "Windows cannot access\\xp1\c" "Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose."

When Diagnose is clicked, the answer is, "Make sure the computer or device is turned on and connected to the network" "Windows can't find "xp1". If the computer or device you are trying to reach is nearby, make sure it is turned on and connected to the network. Otherwise, contact your network administrator for assistance."

When I turn on Network Discovery, xp1 does not appear. All other Windows 7 and XP machines do, and they are all successfully mapped.

The kicker is that a second Windows 7 machine has no problem mapping xp1 and seeing it on its Network Discovery. So, xp1 is on the network, but it can't be seen by the first Window 7 machine. And that same Windows 7 machine has no problem seeing other machines, both 7 and XP.
