Cannot get windows updates to run/connect for windows 10

Hi. I'm having problems trying to run my check for "Windows Updates". Its been going on for a few months now. I keep getting this message each time I've tried (Many, many times) "We couldn't connect to the update service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet."I've run the windows update trouble shooter, carried out the troubleshoot but it just runs until its finished and says no errors detected/found.Can someone help me at all please but please, I am not IT minded so please try to keep it simple (preying)OS is Windows
