Hello, I have a Windows 10 Dell PC with 32-bit, and I will start with everything from the beginning.
I have Comodo Antivirus installed long before, but due to some conflicts with a game I play I uninstalled it.
Now that my PC has no antivirus, I thoguht that having Windows Defender turned on will be good enough for now, since this isn't the Windows Defender in Windows 7 but the full MSE one.
I was not able to turn it on immediately as I stumbled upon an error message: "This app is turned off by your group policy". Note that I'm the only one admin, and I never make any policies on this machine.
I researched online, and found this thread with the last reply getting upvoted a lot. I did just as the person wrote, and it got rid of the error message.
But when I use Windows Defender, it said that my antivirus is still off, and when I clicked the red Enable button it pop up an error message saying it can't turn on the service for some reason.
I remember that while deleting that registry, I saw another one named DisableAntivirus, and just like the thread I linked I thought that's the reason why I can't activate it.
So I went and deleted it, then restart the computer. The thing is that now Real-time protection is on, and I just finished updating my Windows Defender definitions, but the antivirus protection still isn't on, and when I click Enable no error message pop up now. I can click it as many times as I want and nothing will happen.
(don't mind about the scanning, I already did it by the time I post this thread)
So I want to ask if anybody know how to fix this issue? Was my action deleting the DisableAntivirus registry correct or not? Is there a way to use Windows Defender normally now? Thank you.
