Cannot access BitLocker recovery key even when logged into account

I cannot access my BitLocker recovery key even while logged into my Microsoft account. While in my account, when I go the the devices in the account and try to access BitLocker recovery options, when I click on that it takes to a screen that wants a code that has never been sent - there is no code no code was ever sent. Now it is threatening to lock me out for 30 days and it is impossible to speak or chat with an actual human in Microsoft support. And why is it called ‘support’ when they refuse to let you speak to a human?
