can someone please tell me if this zip file is gone or not and how i can delete it im scared out of my FREAKING mind

I downloaded a file that may or may not have malware, and most of my attempts to eradicate the zip file are futile. I've essentially gone mad, and any help would be appreciated it. The downloaded file was a zip file, which I did not extract (not that I remember), and when I attempt to delete; open; or hover above the trashcan with the file, it does not allow me to. The file is not present in "add or remove programs", or in the control panel "uninstall" section. I would have believed it was gone, but when I looked into its properties tab, my suspicions arose.
