can i use the media creation tool to upgrade my pc to windows 11 from windows 10 1607?

So I was trying to upgrade my PC to windows 11 and the installation assistant, the update through settings and the iso file setup.exe methods didnt work so i was wondering if i could upgrade my pc from the usb drive through bios and not lose all my files.
