Can file changes result in the C: Drive changing name?

A couple of months ago I swore the drive on my laptop was something called ''Local Disk (C:)'' along those lines, however now I've seen It's called ''Windows-SSD (C:)''.Nothing malicious has happened after noticing this so I don't see a reason to panic, though may I ask what could've caused this? Updates? Driver changes? Errors? What else?
