C Drive denies me access even though I am administrator

My C: Drive and everything in it is inaccessible as I am denied access as administrator. When I go into Properties, Security, Advanced, and Change Owner - clicking the Change freezes the window for a good time and then gives the error message of "Can't open access control editor. Access is denied." Any type of administrative access needed to change settings gets denied. This issue happened one night after I reset my computer after a game wouldn't load.
