I noticed an issue when trying to install Apex through Origin the past two days.
The download pauses at 38%. I've traced it down to C++ 2010 x64. Origin downloads and runs vcredist_x64.exe even though 2010 x64 is already installed.
I deleted the partial game install. I then uninstalled it and tried to reinstall 2010 x64 using Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from Official Microsoft Download Center
When I run that nothing happens except it shows up in task manager as a process. A process I can't end. I can't kill it with TaskKill. It shows up under tasklist, but when I use the IM or PID it says it 'there is no running instance of the task.'
If try running the install again, another instance shows up in task manager.
Tried Fixit and sfc.
At a loss.
