Built-in laptop camera shows a gray screen with nothing else on it whenever I try to use it.

I recently encountered a problem that causes my laptop camera to not show any display (other than a blank gray screen). I've already tried camera permissions in privacy and security, windows defender exclusions, updated drivers, reinstalled the pc camera in device manager, checked the camera itself for anything blocking it or a privacy slider, and none of it worked. I feel it's worth mentioning the fact that I'm not able to insert a screenshot into this post, and when I try to insert a screenshot of the issue I get a message saying either 'something went wrong' or the screenshot shows a large
