Hi All,

I have just started using Paint to create small (32 pixels by 32 pixels) monochrome bitmaps to use in an embedded environment. In the course of creating these bitmaps, I have found a couple of bugs. The first of these - being unable to paint in white - has already been discussed.

The second, relating to rendering, hasn't. I have noticed that if I create a bitmap using paint, using just black and white pixels, and then save it as a monochrome bitmap, I'll get a warning box about reduced image quality. This is OK, as I'm reducing the image quality on purpose. However, Paint will apply some algorithm to the bitmap display to try and make it look better, changing the odd pixel here and there. I've tried changing the erroneous pixels, but they stay black / white. The bitmaps render correctly in viewer, so it's just a Paint rendering problem.

See pictures below for an example. It's a volume icon. The correct version is on the right, note the nice smooth, symmetrical "sound waves". On Paint's version on the left, you can see that the "sound waves" are a complete mess.

Is this something Microsoft intends to correct?
