BSOD System Thread Exception Not Handled (ntfs.sys) after plugging in external hard drive

I have been getting this error every time I plug in my hard drive. The drive shows up for a couple of seconds then I get the BSOD and my system restarts and restarts and restarts. I have to remove the drive to keep my computer from restarting. Tried using a different hard drive, it worked perfectly fine so I tried using the problematic hard drive in a different system and it also had the issue. Need to access the drive so I can recover or maybe format it.
