Please Help! I have the exact same issue. Black screen with cursor after login. Have attempted system repair/restore, safe mode and rebooting to last good Windows startup etc. Also I can't use CTRL ALT DLT. Only way to successfully get task manager is through CTRL SHIFT ESC.
When I get there I notice explorer.wxe is not visible. When I try to run it it doesn't work. I get an error message saying "the application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect. please see the application event log or use the command -line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.
could you please run through step by step how you fix it thanks
